Bio

A little bit about me

My name is Philip Godinez Junior, but I have always been called P.J. I was born and raised in Palm Springs, California.  All my life I have always loved to draw, create things, fix anything that was broken, of just take stuff apart to figure out how it all worked.

Early in my school years when computers were introduced I immediately was intrigued by all the  creative software that I would find. I remember a program called "Print Shop" that I loved to play around with and explore all the tools that I could find. I would experiment with all the fonts and would constantly get in trouble for printing myself extra long banners of my name arranged with silly clipart. When I got into high school I began to get really skilled in several different creative software applications.  When my art teacher said I should really look into graphic design after high school I was excited that I could do this stuff and make a living with it.

My graduation year was 1999 and I received 2 scholarships that got I immediately put towards my college education and began my graphic design journey.  I ended up getting involved in the radio industry that I was absolutely excited about since music was my second love. I began to focus on a career in radio broadcasting and audio production.  During my radio experience I would begin to experiment with Adobe Photoshop, I started to really get involved in creating graphics for the radio stations designing graphics for their websites and many promotional event flyers. This molded into a skill that I began to make some side money doing and loved every bit of it.

In 2007, my wife and I started a family with our first son Roman. This new lifestyle really opened my eyes to the importance of career stability and the radio industry was far from that.  I started to really look into getting back to my graphic design skills. I immediately began to build up freelance clientele in the entertainment industry creating nightclub event flyers and many designs for small businesses.

In 2015, I started to really focus on landing a solid career in graphic design, I came across many obstacles since I only had extensive experience with Adobe Photoshop. I was determined and extremely eager to learn everything that was required for this goal, so I decided to enroll at The Art Institute.

I am now a full time graphic designer with so much experience in several areas of designing. I continue to set myself goals in my career and will always be excited to learn all the new things that continue to grow in the graphic design world and all the technology that surrounds it.

I am a graphic designer that takes pride in everything I create as if it is my own signature work of art. I absolutely love what I do and am completely in love with the world of graphics.

Thank you for taking your time to read a little bit of my story, I promise you that I will always strive to be the best at everything I design and create for the world of art.
